Getting around Reviews.com
The two basic ways of navigating Reviews.com are Browsing and
Searching.
Browsing allows you to see, at a glance, all the reviews in a specific
area. A variety of sorting options allow you to narrow your focus and
drill down to individual reviews, reviewers, and media types, like books,
journals, or proceedings.
Browsing Reviews.com:
- Begin your Browse by clicking on the Browse tab on the Reviews.com
home page. If you are already within Reviews.com click on the Browse
button in the left-hand menu.
- The Browse main page will open. By default, reviews will be
sorted by CCS terms. You can also browse by
Title of the item reviewed, Author
of the item reviewed, Reviewers name, and date
of Issue. Select these other views by clicking
on the appropriate tab.
Browse Views
CCS Terms
Computing Classification System Terms, or
CCS Terms, are the basic method of sorting computing topics. Invented
by the ACM, the classes are updated yearly and the standard of the computer
industry.
Browsing by CCS
- The default Browse view is by CCS Terms. The Subject
section of the screen lists CCS general terms. Click on a term to drill
down to more specific classifications.
- Select an option from the Limit By drop-down list to limit
the reviews that are displayed.
- Reviews meeting your browse parameters are listed near the bottom
of the screen. The reviews can be sorted by Review title, type
of media item, or by date of review by clicking on the underlined
headings.
- The Display drop-down list allows you to choose the number
of reviews shown.
- Clicking Next (or Previous, when available) brings you
to the next (or previous) group of matching reviews.

Browsing by Title
- Click on the Titles tab to browse by item title.
- Click on a Letter to display the item titles that start with
that letter. Click on All to display all items.
- Select the type of items you want to display by choosing from the
View drop-down list.
- To search for a specific item enter its name in the Title field
and click Search.
- Titles that match your browse parameters will be listed toward
the bottom of the screen. Click on a title to see reviews from that
item.
- The Display drop-down list allows you to choose the number
of titles shown.
- Clicking Next (or Previous, when available) brings you
to the next(or previous) group of matching titles.

Browsing by Author
- Click on the Authors tab to browse items by author.
- Click on a Letter to display author names starting with that
letter. Click on All to display all authors.
- To search for a specific author enter a name in the Author
field and click Search.
- Author names matching your browse parameters will be
listed toward the bottom of the screen. Click on a name to see items
by that author which have reviews.
- The Display drop-down list allows you to determine the number
or rows shown for each author.

Browse by Reviewers
- Click on the Reviewers tab to browse reviews by author.
- Click on a Letter to display the reviewer names starting with
that letter. Click on All to display all reviewers.
- To search for a specific reviewer enter a name in the Reviewer
field and click Search.
- Reviewer names matching your browse parameters will be listed
toward the bottom of the screen. Click on a name to see reviews by that
reviewer.
- The Display drop-down list allows you to determine the number
or rows shown for each reviewer.

Browse by Issues
- Click on the Issues tab to browse content by the issue of publication.
- Select a Month and a Year and click the Browse
button to display that issue's table of contents, listing all reviews
published that month.
- The View drop-down list allows you to select either the Full
or Partial citation display.
- Click on an item Title to see that review.
- The Display drop-down list allows you to choose the number
of items shown.
- Clicking Next (or Previous, when available) brings you
to the next (or previous) group of matching items.
- Clicking on a Page number at the bottom of the screen allows
you to jump to another page of results.
