ProForm Hybrid Trainer Review
The ProForm Hybrid Trainer carves out a unique spot in the industry by doubling as a recumbent bike. Though it is lacking some console and entertainment features, it is very affordable and may still make a good choice for some who want a diverse workout.
Two machines in one
Not only is the ProForm Hybrid Trainer an elliptical machine, but it is also a recumbent bike. The pedals adjust to suit each of these options, making it easy to transition from the elliptical to the bike and vice versa. The ProForm Hybrid Trainer is perfect for anyone who enjoys mixing up their workouts but doesn’t have room in their home for several large machines.
Very affordable price
The ProForm Hybrid Trainer is one of the most affordable elliptical machines that we have reviewed. Considering the fact that this machine doubles as a recumbent bike, you can be sure you’re getting an especially great deal. Those looking for an elliptical on a budget will not want to miss the ProForm Hybrid Trainer.
Strong display features:
When using the ProForm Hybrid Trainer, you shouldn’t have any problem viewing your workout information. The display screen clearly shows the calories you’ve burned, the amount of time you have been using the machine, and the distance that you have traveled. If you use the heart rate hand grips, you will also be able to see your heart rate on the screen as well.
The ProForm Hybrid Trainer comes with a useful target pacer feature, which tells you how to adjust your speed in order to achieve the goal that you set for the workout. For those training for a race or looking to lose weight, this could be a very helpful feature and is definitely something to consider when searching for the best elliptical machine.
Missing console features
Though the ProForm Hybrid Trainer does have a Quick Start button, which makes it easy to get going with your workout, it doesn’t really have many console features beyond that. Many other elliptical trainers have a chest pulse sensor, which is a more reliable alternative to the heart rate hand grips, along with a built-in console fan. These features cannot be found on the ProForm Hybrid Trainer, however. This machine is also missing a reading rack that can be used to balance books, magazines, or even tablets while exercising. For those who value being able to read while working out, the ProForm Hybrid Trainer may not be the right choice.
No incline ability
Many elliptical trainers offer users the opportunity to incline their machines for an added degree of difficulty in their workouts. The ProForm Hybrid Trainer does not come with this capability, though, which may be disappointing to some. If being able to adjust the incline of your elliptical is important to you, there are plenty of other options better suited for your needs.
Missing entertainment features
Compared to treadmills, ellipticals offer very little in the way of entertainment options. However, most still come with a built-in audio port and speakers to make listening to music easy and convenient. The ProForm Hybrid Trainer is not one of these machines. This may not bother some people, but it is something to consider when choosing an elliptical machine.
It’s frustrating when your exercise equipment breaks down. It’s even more frustrating to get a huge repair bill if the machine isn’t under warranty. That is the reality that many owners of the ProForm Hybrid Trainer will face if they encounter equipment malfunctions, as the warranties on this machine are extremely limited. If this worries you, there are plenty of other machines with better warranties that can offer you peace of mind.
