StreamSend Review

StreamSend offers good campaign management tools and strong email tracking. However, the company falls behind the competition due to their limited contact upload tools and poor integration with online business services.

The Good

Anti-spam campaign analysis

After creating a campaign, StreamSend provides you with nine different spam filters you can run your email through to identify any problems that need to be addressed before sending. This is a great feature that really helps you avoid phrases and stylistic elements that are often found in spam emails. Although it does cost a little more to use, many serious marketers consider it an extremely helpful tool. Your emails are also filtered out of inboxes if an email service notices your recipients are manually flagging your emails as spam. This may occur if you’re sending too many emails or if uninterested subscribers can’t figure out how to formally unsubscribe from your list. Whatever the reason, it’s important to pay attention to such activity so you can make appropriate changes. Fortunately, StreamSend provides a complaint tracking tool so you can learn about any problems before they result in the filtering of your emails.

Capable tracking and reporting

With Streamsend, you can monitor a variety of statistics, including open rates, click rates, forward rates, and bounce rates, enabling you to see exactly how your contacts are responding to your emails. You can then compare data across your different campaigns to see which of your emails performed best. StreamSend also integrates with Google Analytics so you can track the browsing behavior of users that click through from your email to your website. With so much data at your fingertips, it’s nice to see that StreamSend also provides simple reports so you can understand just what the data is telling you.

Impressive template gallery

StreamSend’s extensive collection of email templates provides you the means to create aesthetically pleasing, effective emails without the headaches that come along with creating custom layouts, choosing color schemes, and designing graphic elements. With more than 170 templates to choose from in a variety of categories, you’re sure to find a great design fit for whatever purpose you want to accomplish. If you prefer to design your own emails from scratch, simply create your design using standard HTML and upload it to your account.

Free weekly webinars

StreamSend offers a decent variety of learning materials to get new users up to speed on email marketing and the StreamSend system. The company’s free weekly webinar is an especially great resource for new users, providing a solid introduction to the many issues that surround email delivery. You learn about what can cause delivery problems and how you can improve your delivery rates when problems occur. StreamSend provides you with the answers you need to make sure your emails are arriving safely in customer inboxes.

The Bad

Extra fee for additional training

At $210, StreamSend’s quick-start training session is pretty expensive, especially considering the free materials and comprehensive webinar sessions offered by some of StreamSend’s competitors. If you want free access to comprehensive learning materials, solid online instruction options, and good technical support services, there are some other good companies to choose from.

Limited data importing options

Aside from entering your contacts manually one by one, your only available option is to create a tab-delimited file in TXT or CSV format for upload to the StreamSend system. If your contacts are stored in a tidy spreadsheet file, you can resave your list in an appropriate tab-delimited format with only a couple mouse clicks. Although this is an easy process for knowledgeable spreadsheet users, beginners may run into some trouble, especially since StreamSend offers no help resources on the topic. If your contacts are instead located in an online customer management service like Zoho or Salesforce, or a Gmail account, you’re in for even more hassle. In these cases, you need to figure out how to export your data to your desktop and reconfigure it for upload to StreamSend. In the final analysis, if you have a lot of contacts and you’re worried about your ability to solve technical problems on your own, you’re probably better off looking at other email marketing companies.

No mobile application

If you rely on mobile access to online services to keep you connected to your business, you’ll be disappointed to learn that StreamSend doesn’t offer a mobile app for its users. Many of StreamSend’s competitors offer full-featured apps for checking in on current campaigns, viewing analytical reports, and even composing new campaigns on the go. Mobile access is probably not a big priority for most customers but, if it’s a big priority for you, another company can probably serve you better than StreamSend.
