Stamina® Magnetic Upright 5325 Exercise Bike Review
The Stamina® Magnetic Upright 5325 Exercise Bike is a terrific exercise option if value-for-money is high on your wish list. With lightweight yet stable construction and solid digital technology, you get everything you need to ride your way to better health.
Lightweight, high-capacity design
The Stamina® Magnetic Upright 5325 Exercise Bike weighs in at less than 67 pounds fully assembled, making it one of the lighter exercise bikes on the market. What’s more, with convenient forward-mounted wheels, it’s not a big chore to move this bike out of the way or roll it into another room when you need extra space. In comparison, a full-size exercise bike like the Diamondback Fitness 510Sr Recumbent Bike weighs around 125 pounds and takes up quite a bit more floor space than this Stamina® model. On top of the lightweight convenience, the Stamina® Magnetic Upright 5325 has a weight capacity of 300 pounds, as much as the Diamondback Fitness model and many other full-size exercise bikes. If you’re looking for a small yet sturdy exercise bike that can be hidden away in a corner or even a closet when not being used, this bike makes an excellent choice.
LCD performance monitor and interactive workouts
For a relatively inexpensive upright exercise bike, the Stamina® Magnetic Upright 5325 really delivers when it comes to technology. The model has an easy-to-read monitor that tracks several workout statistics, including speed, distance, heart rate, time, and calories burned, all the same stats tracked by the more expensive exercise bikes. You also get access to six preprogrammed workout routines to help you push your riding pace. Preprogrammed routines include a hill climb, a mountain climb, an interval program, and several so-called fat burn programs. Note these programs do not control the level of pedal resistance, which can only be adjusted by hand on this bike. Rather, these programs are designed around pedal speed. When you start a workout program, the LCD display shows a target speed for you to maintain, which changes according to the demands of the program you’ve chosen.
Integrated heart-rate monitor
It’s also notable that the Stamina® Magnetic Upright 5325 bike has a built-in heart-rate monitor. While heart-rate monitors are pretty common on higher-price exercise bikes, they’re not always found on models in the Stamina® 5325’s price range. To use the heart-rate monitor, you must have your palms on the contact sensors built into the bike handlebars. As long as your palms are in contact, your heart rate is displayed on the bike’s LCD performance monitor.
Limited warranty period
The Stamina® Magnetic Upright 5325 Exercise Bike falls a little behind many other popular exercise bikes when it comes to warranty terms. As the owner of a new Stamina® 5325 model, you get a one-year warranty on the bike frame and a 90-day warranty on mechanical parts and electronic components. No warranty is included for labor costs. These terms aren’t significantly different from bikes in the same price range, but they do lag quite a bit behind exercise bikes on more expensive price tiers. While this nicely appointed Stamina® bike will certainly save you some money over other models, you have to trade away a little of the confidence that comes with a higher-price bike that offers a 10-year or longer warranty term.
