Pinnacle Security Review

Pinnacle Security offers several home security packages to choose from and access to reliable equipment, but they fall behind in home automation technology which may deter you if that's a priority.

The Good

Unique Image Sensor

Pinnacle Security offers standard motion sensors and, in addition, they provide an image sensor that has some unique functionality. The image sensor has the ability to detect movement from up to 35 feet away. The sensor also features a built-in camera. Following motion detection, the sensor takes two pictures and uploads them to the web.

General Electric (GE) Hardware

Like other top home security companies, Pinnacle utilizes home security equipment from General Electric, the most well-known and popular brand in the industry. The standard Pinnacle installation includes the Simon XT panel, window and door sensors, and motion sensors, with the ability to add other GE equipment to the system.

Numerous Packages Options

All Pinnacle packages utilize the same keypad, but based upon your circumstances and needs, each package includes different devices. The packages are built around customer profiles or your unique security interests, such as the Frequent Traveler or Enhanced Perimeter Protection. These packages are useful if you need a little extra guidance in your home security purchase.

Translator Turns Hardwired Into Wireless

Pinnacle Security offers a piece of equipment called a translator, which enables you to use many of your old components with today’s technology. Using the translator, you add wireless sensors to a hardwire system and upgrade your panel to a touchscreen keypad. The translator converts hardwire signals into wireless ones and can use up to eight zones of a wired system. This is a great option if you want to upgrade your equipment to wireless but don’t want to waste the money on reinstalling your entire system.

The Bad

Inconvenient Relocation Options

While other top home security system providers allow you to install the equipment on your own, Pinnacle’s system must be installed by their professional technicians. The majority of home security companies that offer professional installations make it pretty difficult or expensive to relocate your equipment if you move to a new location. Even though every standard package offered by Pinnacle includes a relocation option for when you need to move your system, you may have to pay a fee or sign a new contract depending on how long you’ve had your system.

Less Focus On Home Automation

Although Pinnacle does provide some common home automation equipment, it’s relatively low on their priority list. Unlike Pinnacle, the majority of companies that provide home security systems have made a push to integrate this technology, so if the ability to add home automation features is particularly important to you, there are other home security companies that may better meet your needs.
