Blueprint LSAT Prep Review
Blueprint LSAT Prep offers 100 hours of in-class instruction in every course and more practice tests than any other company, so you can be confident you're getting your money's worth. However, if you don't live near one of their in-person locations, you'll have to look elsewhere.
100 hours of in-class time
Blueprint LSAT Prep offers about 20 more hours of live in-class instruction than their competitors do, providing you ample time to get familiar with the test material. Twenty-four of these 100 hours are spent taking practice exams, which help you and your instructor gauge how well you’re doing and where you could use more practice. You can then apply this knowledge of your strengths and weaknesses to direct your focus when you’re studying on your own. The other 76 hours of classroom time are devoted to lecture, where your instructor introduces you to concepts that appear frequently on the LSAT and teaches you problem-solving strategies.
Plenty of opportunities to practice
Blueprint’s LSAT classroom course includes 17 full-length practice tests you can use to measure your progress and understanding of test concepts. Six of these tests are proctored, giving you a feel for actual exam conditions. The other 11 practice tests are located in your MyBlueprint online account for you to take on your own time. In addition, Blueprint gives you access to every single official LSAT question that’s legal to license. After each class section, instructors assign homework designed to further reinforce the concepts you’ve been studying, so you’re well versed in all the skills you need to learn by test day.
Instructors who know their stuff
In order to become a Blueprint LSAT Prep instructor, you must have earned a 170 or higher out of 180 on an official LSAT exam, and that’s just the start. Instructors are required to demonstrate a high degree of skill as a teacher as well as the ability to keep students entertained. Before setting foot in a classroom, new Blueprint instructors undergo nearly 200 hours of training, and they’re paired up with a mentor who helps them prepare their lessons and makes sure their teaching is up to scratch. All of this preparation means you’re learning from individuals who possess a deep understanding of not only the LSAT material, but also of the most effective ways to teach it. Not all LSAT prep companies put this much care into selecting their course instructors, so this is definitely something to be valued.
Track your progress online
The Analytics section of your MyBlueprint account keeps track of how well you’re doing with certain types of questions so you don’t have to. The feature looks at your answers to both homework questions and practice LSATs and highlights patterns over time so you know where to focus your attention. These analytics also show you how you’re progressing. Another unique tool in your MyBlueprint online account is the Law School Compass. This tool shows you how likely you are to get admitted to the law schools you’re interested in and what kind of score you need to be competitive. The best part about the MyBlueprint account is that it’s free, so you can access these tools, a full-length practice test, and Blueprint’s PrepTest scoring tools as part of your own self-study program.
Improve your law school application
Blueprint LSAT Prep has partnered with Anna Ivey Consulting to help students improve their law school applications and give them the best chance of being accepted. Application workshops are scheduled periodically and discuss personal statements, letters of recommendation, resumes, and other aspects of a typical law-school application. If you want more individualized help, sign up for a one-on-one consulting session. An admissions expert focuses on the areas of your application you feel need improvement and gives you feedback on your personal statement. Students currently enrolled in a Blueprint LSAT Prep course receive a discount on all admissions consulting services so, if you’re interested in these, Blueprint is a good company to choose.
No live online courses
If you don’t live near one of Blueprint Prep’s 35 classroom course locations, your only options are to sign up for private tutoring or check out the company’s on-demand video course. This program was designed by Blueprint Prep’s founders and contains prerecorded video lessons covering all the major concepts you’d learn about in a classroom course. But, if you feel like you’d benefit more from having a live person there to help you, you have to choose another company that offers a live online course.
