Daytona State University-Global Campus Review
Daytona State College boasts a sky-high graduation rate and one of the best-trained online faculties around, making it a top option for students interested in studying engineering technology or management.
Exceptional three-year graduation rates:
Daytona State College has reported three-year graduation rates of around 80% over the last four years, a stand-out performance that very few schools can come close to matching. The current U.S. News & World Report survey of the best online bachelor’s degree programs in the nation reveals that Daytona State College is also a top performer when it comes to delivering quality student services and utilizing effective technology. These survey results are no doubt closely related to the school’s excellent record of graduating its online students.
Solid engineering technology program:
Daytona State College is one of the few top schools to offer an online bachelor’s degree in an engineering subject. The engineering technology program is designed to prepare students with the technical knowledge and problem-solving skills needed to work as systems engineers, project engineers, and process analysts in industries of all kinds. You can choose from two concentrations within this program, including an electrical engineering option and an information systems option. This program is an especially strong choice if you are interested in going on to pursue graduate studies in engineering or construction management.
Highly trained, full-time instructors:
According to the current U.S. News & World Report survey of online bachelor’s programs, Daytona State College is home to one of the best-trained online faculties in the country. Daytona State College faculty members average 11 years of online teaching experience, significantly more than many other online faculties. Additionally, more than 80% of faculty members teaching in Daytona State’s online degree programs are full-time instructors dedicated solely to education. In comparison, many other top online bachelor’s programs employ a much larger portion of part-time educators with far fewer years of experience teaching in online programs.
No application fees for most students:
While a majority of online bachelor’s programs charge a program application fee of around $50, students in the United States pay nothing to apply to Daytona State College. The online application tool is relatively easy to use and can usually be completed in 30 minutes or less. Applications can also be submitted by snail mail if you prefer. International students must pay an application fee of $50.
Relatively expensive out-of-state tuition:
Although Daytona State College is very affordable for Florida-based students, the school charges relatively high out-of-state tuition rates of about $560 per credit. While this rate is not especially extreme, it does place Daytona State behind many other top online programs when it comes to affordability. For example, you can find a number of exceptional online programs that charge out-of-state students less than $400 per credit, with several good options at $350 or less.
Limited number of online degrees:
Daytona State College offers only two online bachelor’s degree options, one in engineering technology and the other in supervision and management, which is designed to prepare you for a career in business. While an online education degree is available, you must participate in significant on-site teacher training activities in and around Daytona, Florida. If you are not interested in one of these options, you need to look elsewhere for a suitable program.
