Pace University Review
Pace University is a large private school with a nationally recognized online degree completion program ideal for working adults.
Top national ranking:
In U.S. News & World Report’s recent survey of online bachelor’s degree programs, Pace University’s iPace degree completion program rated among the top three in the nation. The university garnered strong results across the board, earning top 20 rankings for both its online student support services and its student engagement programs. Pace University’s online faculty, which averages 10 years of online teaching experience, placed just outside the top 10 faculties in the nation.
Solid degree options:
The iPace degree completion program offers a number of great degree options designed to give you the professional skills you need to succeed in the job market. The business studies program offers you the chance to build general business know-how before specializing in either business communication or accounting and internal auditing. This degree program is offered by the Pace University Lubin School of Business, which is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), one of the top business school accreditation agencies in the world. If you’re interested in computer forensics, consider the professional technology studies program, which is designed to train students for jobs in law enforcement, government, or private security. Finally, the iPace nursing program offers registered nurses the theoretical and practical training needed to advance in the nursing profession. In addition to providing skills that you can immediately apply in your work as a nurse, this program is designed to prepare you for graduate-level nurse training.
Solid student retention rates:
In recent years, the iPace online degree completion program has achieved student retention rates that compare quite well with the best online programs. According to U.S. News & World Report, in three of the last four years, no fewer than 70% of first-year Pace students returned for a second year of study. While the figure dropped into the sixties in 2011, it rebounded quite nicely the following year. These great results reflect the fact that Pace has strong student engagement programs, good support services, and, most importantly, quality online courses. While you need to take a well-rounded view of a program to make a strong decision, good student retention rates tend to reveal a lot about online programs.
Great alumni benefits:
The Pace University alumni community includes more than 130,000 professionals and stretches around the globe. As an alumnus, you’ll have access to a free online social network where you can keep up with classmates and develop professional relationships with other Pace graduates. You’ll also be entitled to a number of free alumni services and benefits through the Alumni Relations Office on campus. For example, the office oversees a variety of online career development and job search services, which are available to alumni free for life.
Degree completion programs only:
Pace University online degrees are designed for students who have already completed a minimum of 56 credits at an accredited two- or four-year college or university. If you are a recent high school graduate, you need to look at full four-year online programs offered by other schools. If you have a substantial number of credits but do not meet the minimum requirement, you may be able to get some credit for nontraditional training, including workplace training programs and military training programs. For an evaluation of your college record and your eligibility for nontraditional learning credits, contact an admissions counselor at Pace.
Three-year graduation rate somewhat low:
According to U.S. News & World Report, Pace University’s three-year graduation rate for online students failed to break through the 50% mark in any of the last four academic years. As it is a degree completion program, you would expect Pace’s three-year graduation rate to be higher. In fact, a number of other top online programs offering online degree completion programs have achieved rates slightly higher than Pace, sometimes rising to 60% and above.
