Clarizen recently released a Google Chrome extension that enables you to quickly create and assign tasks from any web page in a Chrome browser. With the tool, you’ll be able to take screenshots, assign a task or case, include any related documents, set a due date, and more. This time-saving extension can simplify work done by marketing, IT, web designers, and any other employees that make updates and improvements to live websites.
Keep track of resource allocation
Clarizen’s resource load chart gives you a nice overview of how your team member’s time is being utilized. You can tell who is being overworked and who has some spare time to take on extra projects, and shift tasks around accordingly. This resource chart goes hand in hand with Clarizen’s excellent time tracking tools, which let each user enter how much time they spent on a particular task. Can't customize your dashboard
Although you can add apps to customize your projects in Clarizen, your dashboard is going to have to stay the way it is. This is rather surprising since just about every project management software out there lets you layout your dashboard how you want. But before you get too disappointed, Clarizen is currently working on making dashboards customizable, so hopefully this won’t be an issue for much longer.
No way to view recent activity
Unlike most project management software, Clarizen does not have an activity stream where you can view the recent changes made by other members of your team. Though this probably isn’t a crucial feature to most, it can really help keep you informed about the progress of individual projects or tasks, and it would be nice to see Clarizen add this to its offerings.
Document management needs work
Clarizen only allows you to upload one file to the system at a time. Once the file is in Clarizen, you are able to view it and attach it to a task, but there is no way to comment directly on the file, as comments also get attached to tasks. Another valuable document management feature that is missing from Clarizen is version control, which allows different users to edit the document and saves each version separately. These omissions could be problematic if you have a large number of files related to your projects.
