TravelSafe Insurance Review
TravelSafe Insurance holds a place at the top of the industry thanks to their high coverage limits and variety of available plans. No matter what type of coverage an individual is looking for, they are sure to find it with TravelSafe.
Strong trip interruption coverage
If you choose to go with the Platinum plan from TravelSafe Insurance’s Explorer series, you’re insured for up to 200% of your trip cost if you have to interrupt your trip due to some unforeseen occurrence. Leaving early from a trip can sometimes be more costly than cancelling it outright because of all the last-minute travel arrangements you have to make. This is why travel insurance providers usually offer 150% of the trip costs in this instance. TravelSafe Insurance goes beyond that by offering to refund you up to twice what your trip costs. You probably won’t need this much trip interruption coverage, but it can give you some peace of mind knowing that it’s available to you if you do need it.
Insures long-term travel
TravelSafe Insurance insures trips up to three years in length, far above average in the travel insurance industry. Most companies do not insure trips that last longer than one year, but this may not be enough in every case. With TravelSafe, you get the same excellent coverage for trip cancellation, baggage delays, emergency medical treatment, and more. Another unique aspect of TravelSafe’s long-term coverage is that you still have a choice between three different plans, each with different coverage limits. Many other travel insurance providers do not offer their most affordable policies to individuals taking long trips, but this is not the case with TravelSafe Insurance.
TravelSafe Insurance gives you the choice of purchasing comprehensive travel insurance or medical-only insurance, which covers emergency medical treatment while you’re out of the country. This option is perfect if you’re interested in getting medical and dental coverage for your own peace of mind but don’t feel like you need extras like trip cancellation and interruption coverage. Under these plans, you can be covered for up to $1 million of medical treatment, and the premiums are typically much more affordable than those you would find with traditional travel insurance policies.
Simple-to-use quote tool
Once you enter a little bit of basic information about your trip, like when you’re going to be gone and how many are in your group, you’re immediately presented with quotes for all three of their vacation protection plans. From there, you can compare coverages across the three plans and select which one is right for you. If you need to, you can easily go back and revise your quote with just a few clicks. Once you’ve got everything the way you want it, just enter your trip details and payment information, and you’re done. The whole process only takes a few minutes to complete.
Purchase extra coverage for personal property
For an extra fee, you can purchase coverage for your laptop, smartphone, and other electronic devices that are not usually covered under lost or stolen baggage coverage. This protection reimburses you if your items are lost, damaged, or stolen during the course of your trip. You must pay a $100 deductible first, but TravelSafe Insurance takes care of the rest. This coverage applies to sports equipment rental as well. The option to purchase additional personal property protection isn’t all that common in the travel insurance industry so, if it’s something you’re interested in, TravelSafe Insurance may be the right company to choose.
24-hour business services
TravelSafe Insurance provides 24-hour assistance to business travelers who need help setting up emergency communications or locating business services in the area. These include overnight delivery services, print and copy shops, Internet cafes, and more. You also get help setting up phone or web conferences, and help with making emergency travel plans if something changes and you have to depart quickly. Although these services will only appeal to a select group of travelers, business assistance is not a standard item with most travel insurance policies, so the fact that TravelSafe Insurance does offer it is a huge bonus.
Limited Cancel for Any Reason coverage
If you opt for the Cancel for Any Reason coverage available with TravelSafe Insurance’s Classic Plus plan, you’re only able to earn 75% of your trip costs back for canceling without a covered excuse. This isn’t entirely unheard of in the industry, but there are some other companies, like CSA Travel Protection and John Hancock, who reimburse you up to 95% or 100% of your travel costs if you cancel for some event that is not covered. These companies may be better choices for you if you would like to reclaim a higher percentage of your trip costs in the event of a cancellation, though you should keep in mind that this upgrade may be more expensive in these cases.
