The Good

Serves both small and large events

Whether your wedding is a small ceremony or a huge celebration with hundreds of guests, CSI Special Event Insurance is able to provide coverage tailored to you. They’ve covered everything from birthday parties and craft shows to the Austin City Limits Festival and the Barack Obama Inauguration. To get started, fill out an application on their website and you’ll get a quote back shortly detailing how much it’ll cost to get the level of protection you want.

Flexible coverage limits for all budgets

CSI Special Event Insurance offers 10 different levels of wedding liability coverage that suits weddings of all sizes and budgets. Many other insurers give you just three choices for liability coverage limits. If your wedding is particularly large or small, having only a few options may require you to compromise by selecting a higher or lower level of coverage than you feel you need. CSI’s policies are designed to accommodate all types of special events, which reduces much of the hassle when you’re choosing a policy.

No property damage deductible

If a guest or vendor damages property at your wedding, you won’t have to pay anything out of pocket because CSI Special Event Insurance doesn’t require a deductible. This is relatively uncommon among wedding and special event insurers, as a $1,000 deductible is fairly standard for property damage claims with other companies. The chances of an accident are slim but, if you do have to file a claim, that cheap wedding insurance policy quickly gets a lot more expensive when you add on the deductible. With CSI Special Event Insurance, all you’ll have to pay is your premium and they take care of the rest.

The Bad

No cancellation coverage for weddings

Although CSI Special Event Insurance does offer cancellation coverage, they don’t extend this protection to weddings. Liability coverage, including host liquor liability, is available, however, and this is what most people look for when they think of wedding insurance. It protects against any damage to property or injuries to guests during the event as a result of intoxication, and many venues are now requiring this type of coverage. If you’re interested in more comprehensive coverage, consider companies who offer cancellation/postponement coverage as well. Markel American is one wedding insurance provider worth looking into, especially because they offer discounts if you purchase liability and cancellation/postponement coverage together.

No instant quote

Unlike the other wedding insurers we reviewed, CSI Special Event Insurance doesn’t offer a way to receive an instant quote. Instead, you must fill out an application detailing the basic information about your event and how much coverage you’re looking for. Then, once you submit this application to CSI, you have to wait to hear back from one of their representatives. However, you do usually get a response within 24 hours, which isn’t too long.
