You’re reading an article on your phone when all of the sudden the screen is overtaken by an ad exclaiming, “Congratulations! You just won a free iPhone XS!” Getting back to the article isn’t possible. The only thing you can do is close out of the page and hope that it won’t happen again. But it does. Those annoying pop-up ads persist — even on websites you trust and frequent often.

Pop-up ads that once plagued our computers are now making their way to our iPhones, where they’re arguably more frustrating than ever. Oftentimes they consume the whole screen and are difficult to close out of without accidentally clicking on.
