Best St. Patrick’s Day Episodes You Can Stream Right Now

March 13th, 2019  By Joe Supan

Everyone has a go-to Christmas and Thanksgiving episode, but only the true visionaries pay tribute to St. Patrick’s Day. Whether you hit the pub for a pint of green beer or kick back on the couch in your one green t-shirt, here are some of our favorite St. Paddy’s episodes you can stream right now.

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”

Season 11, Episode 8 “Charlie Catches a Leprechaun”

For a show about the owners of an Irish pub, it’s a little surprising that this is the only St. Patrick’s Day tribute in its 13 seasons. In this episode, Charlie (Charlie Kelly) and Mac (Rob McElhenney) attempt to determine the legitimacy of a leprechaun they’ve captured, while the rest of the gang takes a mobile Paddy’s Pub to the streets of Philly.

“30 Rock”

Season 3, Episode 14 “The Funcooker,” Season 6, Episode 12 “St. Patrick’s Day”

“30 Rock” showed a lot of love to St. Patrick’s Day over the years. In “The Funcooker,” Tracy (Tracy Morgan) and Jenna (Jane Krakowski) fall asleep while hosting the parade. Three years later, they’re back at it fighting over the Host #1 spot, only to be replaced by a shocking guest star.

30 Rock, NBC

“The Office”

Season 6, Episode 19 “St. Patrick’s Day”

What better way to celebrate than with your favorite coworkers? In the words of Meredith, St. Patrick’s Day represents, “one perfect day a year. No hassles, no problems, no kids.”

Streaming on: Netflix

The Office, NBC

“Cheers”

Season 8, Episode 21 “Bar Wars III: The Return of Tecumseh,” Season 11, Episode 19 “Bar Wars VII: The Naked Prey”

The founding father of St. Patrick’s Day-themed television, “Cheers” devoted parts three and seven of the epic “Bar Wars” series to the boozy holiday. Bonus points for Woody Harrelson’s mullet and a bit of Frasier’s origin story.

Streaming on: Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video

Cheers, NBC

“How I Met Your Mother”

Season 3, Episode 12 “No Tomorrow”

If ever there was a character made to enjoy St. Paddy’s Day, it’s Barney (Neil Patrick Harris). Ted (Josh Radnor) follows his YOLO-inclined best friend to the bar for a night of partying where everything seems to go his way…at least until the Guinness goggles wear off.

Streaming on: Hulu, Prime Video

How I Met Your Mother, CBS

“Sabrina the Teenage Witch”

Season 3, Episode 17 “Salem, the Boy”

If you’re in the mood to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and you still long for the 90s, Sabrina’s got you covered. A leprechaun appears and grants Sabrina’s snarky cat, Salem, his wish to be human again.

Streaming on: Hulu, Prime Video

Sabrina the Teenage Witch, CBS

The bottom line? Everyone celebrates St. Patrick’s Day differently. We hope this list is the rainbow you can follow to the pot of gold that is your streaming service. We can’t promise you they’re all shining examples of television, but at the very least they should hit the sweet spot like a few of those foil-wrapped chocolate coins.
