TechDen

Newcomer TechDen is hoping to help families get a better grip on screen time thanks to an enclosed charging station and a device-management app. The TechDen Smart Charging Station + App includes a rectangular, white case that can charge two devices at a time, from small phones to large tablets. By fully enclosing devices while they’re being charged, the company says it’s taking an “out of sight, out of mind” approach to device management that could lead to less temptation to pick devices back up again.

Meanwhile, the companion app lets parents set time limits for device usage based on their child’s schedule, such as “30 minutes of screen time before bed.” It also sends notifications warning when time is almost up. Children can earn rewards if they return their device to the charging station on time. And if a child tries to access their phone or tablet outside an approved time period, it stays locked up inside the station.

TechDen is currently accepting orders on its site and the $229 charging station/app combo is set to be available toward the end of February 2019.
