The Good

Reasonably priced

Cable One offers three cable Internet packages, all with extremely reasonable prices given their high speeds. These prices are still higher than what you would find with 4G mobile broadband Internet providers, for example, but Cable One also gives you dramatically faster download speeds. This makes Cable One the perfect choice if you are looking for a deal on your Internet service, but you aren’t willing to sacrifice high speeds for a lower price.

Multiple bundling packages

Cable One is a great option if you are thinking about getting cable, Internet, and phone service — or any combination of the three — all in one place. Getting all these services together is convenient because you only have to deal with one company for all your services. In addition, Cable One has some great deals on all of their services that you can only get through their bundling plans, including the Elite Package, which bundles all three services together for a savings of $25 per month.

Few additional fees

You don’t have to worry about being surprised with additional fees from Cable One. You obviously have to pay the regular monthly rate for the cable Internet service, but that’s about it. They don’t charge any setup fees and there is no charge for initial installation either. There is an equipment lease fee, but this can be avoided if you have your own modem. It’s nice to know that Cable One doesn’t charge for these extra fees, which allows you to focus on the monthly price when you select a cable Internet plan.

The Bad

Requires professional installation

Cable One does not allow customers to install their own cable Internet system in their homes. With most companies, you get the choice to either have the system professionally installed or to do it yourself. Self-installation may not be something that everyone is interested in, but if you don’t have the time to sit around waiting for a professional to do the installation and would prefer to do it yourself, Cable One does not give you that option. But the good news is that they don’t charge you an installation fee, which could help to save you a fair amount of cash.

Expensive equipment leasing

The equipment lease fee required by Cable One is a little higher than what most other companies charge. But the good news is that if you don’t feel like paying the fee, Cable One allows you to go and purchase the required equipment on your own. You’ll have a higher upfront cost, but over time that could mean significant savings for you, depending on how long you stay with Cable One.

No live chat support

Cable One doesn’t provide live chat support to their customers, which is generally one of the most efficient ways to get quick answers to your questions. This shouldn’t be too big of a concern because Cable One does offer email, social media, and phone support, but it’s worth knowing. Getting the help you need isn’t too difficult, but the more support channels offered, the better.
