Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card Review
The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card is a solid all-around credit card for people who frequently travel and stay at the 7,000-plus participating hotels and resorts worldwide. The rewards program includes the Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest, and Ritz-Carlton rewards programs, making it a top contender among hotel credit cards.
The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card is currently offering a sign-up bonus of 75,000 points when you spend $3,000 in the first three months, 6X points for every dollar spent at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels worldwide, and 2X points for every dollar spent on other qualifying purchases. Plus, you’ll get a “Free Night Award,” valued at 35,000 points, every year on the anniversary of opening your account. These are solid rewards, but in the end, if you don’t frequently stay at Marriott properties, there are better travel card options you can choose.

Free hotel stays
Every year on your account opening anniversary, you’ll earn a free night’s stay at many participating hotels, like Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis, worth up to 35,000 points (a value of about $280). That’s about 3X your annual fee and even more if you’re selective about how you redeem your points.
Accelerated rewards for Marriott Bonvoy stays
With the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless, you can earn 6X points for every dollar you spend at over 7,000 participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels and 2X points for every dollar you spend on all other purchases.
You can automatically receive Silver Elite Status as a card member on your account anniversary, plus a chance to earn Gold Elite status. Silver Elite status gives you a 10% point bonus and other hotel perks, including special member rates, in-room WiFi, a dedicated reservations line, late checkout, and Marriott’s Ultimate Reservations guarantee.
To earn the 75,000 sign-up bonus points, you cannot be a current Marriott Bonvoy Premier cardholder, a Marriott Bonvoy Boundless credit cardholder, or a Marriott Bonvoy Bold credit cardholder. This offer applies to new cardholders only.
No rewards for non-Marriott hotels
The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless credit card offers generous points to people who stay at participating Marriott properties or fly on partner airlines. But if you are not a frequent traveler or prefer to stay at a hotel of your choice outside the Marriott family, there are better cards in the same class offering more ways to earn.
Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card Compared to Hilton Honors American Express Surpass Credit Card
The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card and the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass card differ in sign-up bonus and rewards rate. The American Express Hilton Honors card has better point-earning potential, but you can get a free night award every year on your card anniversary with the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless credit card, which easily offsets the $95 annual fee.
With the Hilton Honors card, you earn 12X points for every dollar spent on eligible purchases at a Hilton Honors brand hotel or resort. In contrast, you get 6X points for every dollar spent at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels worldwide. Sign-up bonuses also differ; currently, you get 125,000 Hilton Honors points when you spend $2,000 in the first three months with your Hilton Honors American Express Surpass card and 75,000 points when you spend $3,000 in the first three months on your Marriott Bonvoy Boundless credit card.
How to Earn Points
You will earn points for spending with your Marriott Bonvoy Boundless credit card. You can earn 6X points for every dollar spent at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels worldwide and two points for every dollar you spend on all other purchases outside of the Marriott. There are usually promotional offers to earn bonus points that vary at the time of enrollment, as well. Points earned using your card will be automatically transferred to your Marriot Bonvoy loyalty account each billing cycle.
How to Redeem Points
When it comes to redeeming Marriott points, you have several options to consider outside of the 7,000-plus Marriott hotels participating in the program. You can redeem points on travel packages, car rentals, cruises, and more. You can also combine points with cash to redeem for standard stays starting at $55 plus 1,500 points. When you redeem four nights’ worth of points, you can get the fifth night for free. For additional charges during your stay, you can redeem at a rate of 250 points per every dollar spent.
Moreover, Marriott Bonvoy points are flexible, and they don’t expire. Because Marriott doesn’t enforce blackout dates, you can book any available room with points. And don’t forget: Marriott Bonvoy also has a “Free Night Award” (valued up to 35,000 points) every year after your account anniversary.
The Bottom Line
The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card is a perfect fit for frequent travelers, especially those who prefer to stay at participating Marriott hotels or want to join a hotel loyalty program with plenty of options. However, this isn’t a good pick for people who do not travel often. With the $95 annual fee, there are better no-fee cards offering similar ways to earn more points with hotel stays and travel without being restricted to Marriott properties.
