    Through Duke’s Fuqua School of Business, students can earn a Global Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) through the hybrid format. Students of this program will gain global and diverse business acumen through residencies in other countries. In between the residencies, students will attend online classes from any location. Approximately two-thirds of Global MBA graduates are currently working in technology, finance, consulting, healthcare, energy, and manufacturing. A quarter of them are in management roles.

    Duke’s Master of Science in Quantitative Management: Business Analytics (MSQM) is 100% online and can be completed in 12 to 19 months. This program is designed for the working professional seeking to further business fundamentals with data analytics. This degree can position students for leadership roles in critical and fast-growing segments such as marketing, personal finance, analyst, and operations.

    Duke University also offers an online certificate in financial analysis for non-finance leaders. This fully online six-day program allows students to study at their own pace while providing the knowledge to grow valuable workplace skills or reposition themselves in the job market.


    The Duke University Pratt School of Engineering offers a Distributed Master of Engineering Management Program (MEM). This two-year plan combines online learning with three on-campus residencies. Each residency is a one-week long workshop with fellow students and faculty. You get the same education as on-campus students since the online courses are the same as the on-campus courses. Engineering management prepares students for technology management, research, and development, or entrepreneurship in technology.

    The school also offers a four-course program resulting in a Business Foundations for Engineers Certificate. The self-paced courses cover marketing, intellectual property, finance, and management for high-tech industries. Since this course is credit-based, students have the option to transfer credits to the online Master of Engineering program if you choose to continue to a degree.

    Health and Nursing

    Duke University School of Nursing offers a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degrees. All courses are online, with some required on-campus visits. Each specialty nursing program has you come to campus once per semester for two-five days of hands-on learning. Duke’s School of Nursing was granted the #7 spot for the best online graduate nursing program according to the 2020 U.S. News and World Report.

    Duke offers eight robust MSN majors and three non-clinical majors including:

    For current paralegals, Duke University provides Paralegal Specialist certificates for advanced courses in 22 specialty areas of law. Each specialty certificate includes four classes, and the student has six months to complete the program.     Prospective students can seek financial assistance through grants, loans, work-study, and merit-based and athletic scholarships. Students may also qualify for need-based aid through federal education loans. However, professional certificate programs are non-credit and not eligible. Along with completing a FAFSA, students should check out Duke University’s monthly payment plan option. You can also use third-party loans, such as the Sallie Mae Smart Option loan or a Wells Fargo Graduate loan. Duke Hospital employees may receive funding under the Employee Development Initiative.
