MaxEmail Review

MaxEmail is a respectable online fax service that includes the majority of basic sending and receiving features. Some complementary features are missing, but their compatibility with large groups makes MaxEmail the right fit for many.

The Good

Fax broadcasting capabilities

MaxEmail includes broadcasting functionality that enables you to send the same fax to hundreds or even thousands of contacts without having to manually prepare each fax. Attaching files, preparing cover sheets, and entering contact information for a large number of faxes is very time-consuming. For those that send a high volume of faxes on a regular basis, taking advantage of broadcasting functionality is a huge time-saver.

Helpful learning materials

While many online fax services fail to provide access to thorough learning materials, MaxEmail provides user guides, video tutorials, and a very comprehensive FAQ list. The FAQ is organized according to question topic and includes sections that address receiving faxes, account administration, sending faxes, and more. The FAQ is searchable, enabling you to identify problems with specific queries. When you run into a minor problem or error, being able to research and resolve issues quickly and independently is a great benefit that saves you a lot of time and hassle.

Ability to add multiple user accounts

With a MaxEmail Corporate account, you have the ability to designate an administrator and create individual user accounts. The administrator can designate whether individual users have the authority to send and receive faxes or limit them to send only. Each month, MaxEmail sends a detailed invoice, breaking down the bill according to each fax number. This is a helpful feature that enables administrators to accurately allocate costs to internal teams.

Highly functional iPhone app

MaxEmail’s free iPhone app integrates with your account and includes the ability take photos of your documents, add photos, and attach PDF files. For those that regularly spend time working away from the office, having the ability to send and receive faxes directly from your phone enables you to get more work done regardless of where you are.

The Bad

No built-in digitized signature tool

Having the ability to bypass the traditional print, sign, and resend process saves time and resources and is one of the major benefits of using an online fax service, which is why most online fax services provide built-in digitized signature functionality. MaxEmail provides this functionality in their mobile app, but not in their desktop tool. However, this shouldn’t be a concern for most people because all of MaxEmail’s faxes can be opened in the free version of Adobe Reader and you can sign them from there.

Low integration capabilities

Although the MaxEmail mobile app does integrate with cloud-based document hosting resources like Dropbox and Google Drive, the online fax service itself does not. For small- and medium-size businesses that regularly utilize cloud-based document storage and would benefit from integration, you can find alternative online fax services that better meet your needs.

Limited support options

After steering you toward the FAQ section, a ticket system is the primary means of support provided by MaxEmail. In many instances, a ticket system may be sufficient but, for those times when you need a quick answer or when you have a particularly challenging problem, having the ability to reach out to someone by phone or through a live chat is a superior option. If you really do need help quickly, you can contact MaxEmail on their sales line, but there’s no dedicated customer support phone number for you to contact.
