Travel Insured Review
Travel Insured offers some of the best trip cancellation and interruption coverage in the industry, but it may not be the best choice for people taking long trips.
Cancel for any reason
Travel Insured gives you the option to add on Cancel for Any Reason coverage to your policy, which is useful if you think there’s a chance you’ll need to cancel or reschedule your trip. Travel Insured also has one of the largest lists of covered events in the industry. You can cancel your trip for all the standard reasons, like sickness, injury, or death; traffic accidents; or natural disasters. On top of that, you’re also covered if you have to cancel because of work reasons or childbirth. These things are not always covered by the majority of travel insurance providers, so if you think that one of them might interfere with your vacation, Travel Insured could be the perfect choice for you.
Generous coverage for delays
If you’re delayed for six hours or more during your travels, Travel Insured reimburses you up to $200 per day. This is twice what some other travel insurance providers offer and can make quite a difference if you’re traveling with a group. This money can be used toward food, lodging, and local transportation costs while you’re delayed. It doesn’t take long for these expenses to add up so an extra $200 will will go a long way.
User-friendly quote tool
Travel Insured’s quote tool is incredibly easy to use and makes the process of selecting a travel insurance plan smooth and quick. All you need are your trip dates, trip cost, and the age of the travelers to be insured. Just enter that information to obtain quotes for all the plans you’re eligible for. Choose the one you like, fill out some personal and payment information, and add any upgrades you want. That’s it. If you change your mind after you purchase the policy, you can take advantage of Travel Insured’s 14-day risk-free evaluation and return it, no questions asked.
No age restrictions
Travel Insured travel insurance plans are available to people of all ages, which is surprising because most insurance providers have some sort of restriction on who they offer insurance to. Many companies refuse to provide coverage to individuals over the age of 100, while some others won’t insure anyone over the age of 66. For most travelers, this limit isn’t an issue; however, if you’re traveling with an elderly person, Travel Insured’s lack of restrictions becomes invaluable.
Easy access to support
If you have a question about one of Travel Insured’s plans, you can easily contact the company through one of their many support channels to get some answers. Like most travel insurance providers, email and phone support are the most common options. Travel Insured is also one of the few that offers live chat. In addition, they have a strong social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn, so you can contact them through one of these channels as well if your question isn’t urgent.
No long-term trips
Travel Insured only covers trips that are 180 days or less. Since most trips are much shorter than this, it shouldn’t be a problem for most people. However, if you’re planning on taking a longer trip, many other companies insure trips as long as a year in length and a few, like TravelSafe Insurance, even go beyond that. These companies are much better choices for you if your trip duration is longer than six months.
Missing common travel services
Travel Insured does provide some nice extras like concierge services and business assistance, but they’re missing a few common items offered by most other travel insurance providers. One of these items is interpretation assistance. If you’re in another country and don’t speak the language, it can be very useful to have someone who can help you communicate. Also, Travel Insured doesn’t provide any assistance with emergency cash transfers if your money is lost or stolen during your trip. These services are not central components of your travel insurance policy, but they can add to your peace of mind. If you’d feel more comfortable choosing an insurance provider that offers these tools, it’s best to select another company.
