Online features and tools

Farmers has extended more than 19 million individual policies to customers and serves over 10 million households across the U.S. From car insurance to life, home, business, renters, condo insurance and more, Farmers has a policy for just about anything that needs insurance. With its wide offering and customer list, Farmers takes pride in creating a user-friendly experience for customers through its online features and tools.

Farmers Insurance provides a comprehensive webpage that details all of its insurance policy types and coverage options. You can choose between auto, home, life, business, renters and condo insurance.

The webpage is organized into separate sections that detail the different types of insurance and what each insurance type offers. However, the extensive list of offerings can get quite overwhelming, especially for first-time insurers who may not be sure what they’re looking for.

Users can also easily navigate via the website to find out information on a specific insurance policy type they had in mind. Or, if a customer would rather get on the phone with an agent, the phone number to dial is listed on the website, although it isn’t always clear what type of insurance the agent covers.

You can also find a local agent and get a quote easily through the web app. On the bottom of the page, Farmers offers an educational resource section to explain the different insurance terms, policies and requirements.

Existing customers also get easy website navigation to file a claim, view a claim status, view other claims services, request roadside assistance, pay a bill, and more.

Mobile App

Farmers redesigned its mobile app to offer a more user friendly experience. Although the same features are similar to what you can find on Farmer’s site, policyholders who are on the go and prefer using a mobile device will appreciate the convenience and ease of use with the Farmers mobile app.

The mobile app gives users quick access to information about their insurance policy. You can pay your bills and manage payment options, file a claim, request roadside assistance, speak to your agent, view your policy and your policy details or complete other tasks. You can also access a digital insurance ID card through the app in case you misplace or can’t find your paper ID card when you need it.

However, it’s important to note that some of the mobile app features are only available for certain coverages such as Farmers auto, home, umbrella and life insurance policies. Mobile features are also not accessible in all states.

The Bottom Line

Farmers is a recognizable auto insurer with a strong history and diverse car insurance products. You’ll want to lower your costs by exploring bundling options and by being a safe driver and enrolling in the Signal by Farmers program. One benefit of Farmers auto insurance is Accident Forgiveness, but you’re limited to having one at-fault accident forgiven every three years you go without one.

You can sign up for Farmers in most places across the country and get a free quote online within minutes. It can pay to compare your coverage to other quotes, since you may be able to get a better deal if you’re not able to bundle policies with Farmers.
