Figo Pet Insurance offers comprehensive coverage for cats and dogs throughout the U.S. The three-tiered coverage system is straightforward and all plans provide the same comprehensive coverage, but with different caps on annual benefits. You can choose a policy that caps your yearly benefits at $5,000, $10,000, or unlimited, depending on the level of protection you need. There’s also optional veterinary exam coverage, which could be useful if your pet requires multiple visits for a single condition.
Figo provides an impressive customer experience, taking advantage of technology to make policy enrollment and management a breeze. With Figo’s Pet Cloud app, you can live video chat with a vet 24/7, file claims with AI assistance, and engage with other pet owners via the in-app social network. Figo is ideal for social pet owners who take full advantage of technology.
Figo is a comparatively young company with a slightly lower Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating than many comparable providers, but it’s underwritten by a reputable company with an AM Best financial strength score of A-. A Figo representative noted on BBB that the company changed underwriters in 2019 to avoid the rate increases that account for many of the negative BBB reviews.

The Pet Insurance Factors We Analyzed
Pricing
Figo Pet Insurance plans average less than $1.50 per day. Your premium varies based on several pet-related factors (including your pet’s age, breed, and geographic location), as well as several policy-related factors (including your chosen plan, deductible, and reimbursement percentage). You can select your plan from three coverage tiers. All tiers provide coverage for the same conditions, but the annual veterinary benefits cap increases for each tier. The base-level Essential plan caps veterinary benefits at $5,000 per year, the Preferred plan caps at $10,000 per year, and the Ultimate plan offers unlimited annual veterinary benefits. Deductible options range from $100 to $1,500, while reimbursement options range from 70% to 100%.
Customer experience
Getting a quote and enrolling in pet insurance coverage is quick and easy with Figo. The website offers intuitive navigation and allows you to get a quote in less than two minutes. Customer service representatives are readily available during expanded business hours by phone, text, and email.
Technology is where Figo Pet Insurance shines. With Figo’s Pet Cloud app, policyholders enjoy an exceptional customer experience. You’ll have 24/7 access to a live vet for emergency questions, an AI claims assistant for easy claims support, digital access to your insurance policy, and a social platform for sharing photos, planning pet play dates, and finding pet-friendly local spots.
Coverage
Unlike many other pet insurance providers, Figo doesn’t package different coverage into different plans. Instead, Figo offers comprehensive coverage for all three plans, including emergency services, hospitalization, surgeries, specialists, congenital conditions, chronic conditions, cancer treatments, prescriptions, knee and hip conditions, orthopedics, wellness and imaging. Coverage doesn’t include preexisting conditions, experimental procedures, pregnancy and birth, spaying and neutering, cloning, cosmetic procedures, and coprophagia. Exam and consultation coverage is available for an additional fee.
Coverage begins at 12:01 a.m. on the day after your enrollment. There are waiting periods (which vary by state) before coverage for certain conditions kicks in. You’ll be able to see your unique wait periods during the quote process. You can also contact Customer Experience if you have questions about your waiting periods. While Figo doesn’t offer wellness coverage for routine checkups and prevention, this may not be an issue for you since you can anticipate the expense of these visits and budget for them.
